Girls Tournament Recap

The U12 girls team traveled to Savannah to play in a very wet and cold pre-season tournament this past weekend. The Tournament was run very well and they allowed the games to played even in very wet conditions.

Our U12 girls team showed that they have the fight and heart to play in any situation. Players were covered in mud, wet from head to toe and cold. As the weekend went on the team came together and learned what it means to be part of a team. They learned that going on the field and playing as hard as you can for yourself and the players around you was what made you a winner.

They played some very good teams from South Charlotte, Savannah and Carrolton Georgia.

The point of this tournament was to get our players and coaches some games, have a chance to be together over the weekend and have fun. The tournament was able to give us strong games that will get our team ready to play our first regular season games.

Saturday's games were played in a total downpour, with the weather being the 9th player for both sides.  While the team lost both games that day, they absolutely played their hearts out and were it not for the weather they might have been victorious.  Sunday's game was extremely cold and wet and ended up in a draw.

It was a great weekend and I was proud of our wet, muddy and cold players, coaches and parents.

U13 Girls Recap

The U13 girls team traveled to Savannah to play in a very wet and cold pre-season tournament this past weekend. The Tournament was run very well and they allowed the games to be played even in very wet conditions.

The point of this tournament was to get our players and coaches some games, have a chance to be together over the weekend and have fun. The tournament was able to give us strong games that will get our team ready to play our first regular season games.

All the games were played in very bad conditions. Our girls and coaches made the correct changes to the style of play in these conditions. With the keeper hurt and a small bench the girls looked to support each other while playing the best teams form Columbia, Atlanta and Savannah. The team learned that they are all important to the team and that they are playing for each other. The effort they put on the field not only effect themselves but the players around them.

It was a great weekend and I was proud of our wet, muddy and cold players, coaches and parents. The memory of Whitney's face covered  in the mud will be with me forever.

Boys Tournament Recap

Our boys teams traveled to Savannah this past weekend with much dryer and warmer weather then our girls teams. Once again the tournament was well run and gave our teams some wonderful games.

Our players and coaches were able to get some very competitive  games (for the most part), and they had the chance to be together over the weekend and have fun. The tournament was able to give us strong games that will get our teams ready to play our first regular season games.

Our U10 boys team went down with no subs because a few of our players could not make it. I was so impressed with this team at the tournament. They played so hard for their teammates, they played smart (considering they had no subs) and they play together very well.

Our U12 boys team played some very good teams. At times I can see some great things from this team. At halftime of the last game they were down two goals.

They went out in the second half and showed that they have what it takes to play with the best. They went on to lose the game but they scored two goals to tie the game.

Our U14 boys won the silver bracket of the tournament and were awarded a chance to play the winner of the gold bracket in the FINALS. The game that got them into the finals was the game of the tournament for our boys. In the first half they went down two goals. They made some changes going into the second half and it was the best I have seen this team play. They allowed one shot and dominated the half. They were able to get one goal back but lost 2-1. They advanced to the final because they had the most points. Win, lose, advance or go home, our team were winners. What they did in the second half as a team was fun to watch.

All our teams (boys and girls) were able to get some very good games in before the season gets started. I had a great time watching all our teams compete over the last two weeks. I am very proud of our players, coaches.

Thanks,

Jim
